TurfHound Installation: 20-Station Tee Line (TS076)

The Challenge
Ko Olina management faced an ongoing problem, particularly in the winter months when low light levels provided less sunlight to help grass grow. With about 60,000 rounds played a year at the resort, they were forced to shut down a portion of the practice range to allow turf to recover. Unfortunately, the rest of the range couldn't hold up to the increased use.

The Solution
“With golfers hitting from TurfHound tee surfaces, our Paspalum turf recovers quickly and the practice range can be restored to pristine conditions for tournaments,” said Greg Nichols, Ko Olina General Manager.

The Results
“We were able to maintain healthy Paspalum turf while providing great practice conditions for all golfers prior to the Fields Open in Hawaii, the LPGA event scheduled here in mid-February,” said Nichols.

“With the addition of TurfHound, we have the best of both worlds. We’ve had nothing but positive response. The golfers especially like the ability to use their own wood tees. From the teaching standpoint, it's a great surface with cleaner lies.”
